Michael's Accident (Part 2)

Michael laying down after he has been all sewn up. Can you tell which smile is sincere and which is actually teeth being gritted in pain? It's a hard one. I'll give you a moment.

Michael and the hero of the day, Chan.

300Baht poorer and an hour later we were back on the street! That's the hospital behind us. We are blocking him unfortunately but there was an old guy with his butt getting stitched up right outside the front doors. Patient privacy? Nah..

Here is our second hero of the day. David. He commandeered Sackampon's truck to come and rescue us. It was a tight squeeze but we were able to fit both of the bikes in.

Tigers, hidden waterfall, and a cave...

Us with the sistor at Buatong Waterfall! It was a bit rainy this day but we still managed to have a good time.

On the first Sunday that Jackie was here we took her to the "Tiger Kingdom." It's new since March and it is amazing! They let you go into the cages and play with the baby tigers. These are 3 months old and though they are small, their teeth are quite sharp. This one tried to take a little bite out of Jackie and Michael both.

I think he is guaging whether he could fit his jaws around my leg or not.

Jackie and I were exploring on our motor bike one day when we found a sign for a waterfall. It looked as if it had been an awesome park at one time but nature had taken it's course with it and it was over grown and watery. Anyway, we tried to find the falls by walking up this river thereby avoiding the overgrowth and whatever lived therein but it didn't work out too well. (The water got a bit too deep.)We ended up taking the trail in the end and did find the falls. It however did not make the photo cut. I liked this one better. Moving on...

In our second attempt we made it to Chiang Dao! Here is one of the many photo ops that our guide insisted that we take. "Take photo. Take photo."

The Monkey Show!

Daddy had the honor of having his fortune read by a monkey! Can you guess where the crystal ball was? But seriously though, I think dad's lack of hair was to his advantage. The men who were sat upon after him all had looks of excrutiating pain on their faces from the monkey pulling their hair.

Momma and the monkey. It was so polite it even crossed its legs.

Here is Jackie holding a baby python. When we asked if it would bite the man said no, he had eaten his bird for the month. So it seems the pythons are fairly easy to feed and take care of. That is of course up until the point when you have to start feeding them pigs and small ponies.

Momma and I sipping our cantalope drinks on a sweltering Sunday afternoon at Bantawai wood carving village.

Elephants, Cultural shows and Doi Inthanon

"We're being telepathic. He says that we should run away in the jungle together. One, two three...go!"

Jackie loving the elephants at Mesa Elephant camp.

"I want to take you home with me!" The little elephant says to the dad.

"I saw her first! She's mine!"

Performers at a Kantoke dinner demonstrate a traditional rice dance.

Daddy and I at a park at the base of Doi Inthanon.

Flight of the Gibbon!

The most awesome adventure ever! Strapped into these stylish looking harnesses and yeilding only bent bamboo handbrakes we were sent flying like monkey's over the tree top on Thailands 3rd highest mountain. It was legendary!

Daddy, Michael and Jackie at the start of the adventure!

Us, still alive after our first stretch over the forest floor. Only 17 more platforms to go.

Michael getting ready to drop!

Daddy being lured into a false sense of security before he was dropped. You should have seen the picture after this. -wink-

Mathis's in Thailand

Mumzie at the King's Summer Palace.

Daddy hugging the giant timber bamboo at the King's palace.

The Family at the Chiang Mai Zoo.

Sisters squirreling about at Buatong waterfall.

Of Droughts During the Rainy Season

Drought? What? Not of loving, affectionate people who visit and/or call us; not of water or things to eat; not even of toilet paper. The drought I am referring to is that of our blogging. I must tell you that we do have good and viable reasons for not blogging. We have actually been out of internet services for about 3 weeks now. And right before that, we were exploring and adventuring it up with family for a couple weeks. Anyway, the pictures I promised are on the way, and there will be many more stories and pictures to come. If you wanted, you could even call us and we would be happy to tell you stories over the phone. So, send out the alert. Wake the neighbors. Put the red flags up. We are back in the age of technology. Oh so much love for you all.
